Dine and People Watch from Salt Bar & Grill

“I’ll meet you at Salt.”

Now if you’re a sheep farmer you’d know to go to the place where the sheep get their mineral supplements.

But anyone on the island of Providenciales knows Salt is a casual place to eat, drink and socialize. It’s also a wonderful place to people watch and a fun day activity on Providenciales.

Location

Situated at the Blue Haven Resort, about short 7-minute drive from Villa del Mar and popular Grace Bay Beach, is Salt Bar & Grill, an extremely popular watering hole for locals and visitors alike. It takes its name from the condiment salt which was the backbone of the island’s economy from the late 1600’s up until 1960’s. Salt was harvested and used to preserve fish and seafood caught. Numerous trading ships visited and moored in the harbour to load up the salt and transport it away to happy customers overseas. Salt is celebrated as an integral part of island culture and history and even, for a while, appearing on the flag of the islands.

Today this location continues to attract boats, but more of the super yacht variety instead! The Blue Haven Marina is a 78-slip luxury mooring facility that accommodates vessels up to 220 feet.

It’s an apt name therefore, for a local bar and grill, and as Trip Advisor reviewers note, its proximity to the marina makes for a lovely and convenient setting.

Menu at Salt

In addition to the picturesque setting, guests rave about what’s coming out of the kitchen. The burgers, in particular, are garnering positive attention.
Said one reviewer, “We both had beef burgers. Wow, they were fabulous…..clearly homemade, succulent, a generous portion and cooked to order.”

In addition to burgers, the menu features sandwiches, salads, steak, seafood, and ribs. For those looking for more of a snack, there is a variety of “bar bites” or appetizers like fish tacos, conch fritters or jerk shrimp and truffle potatoes. While the restaurant might be named after the condiment, there’s plenty more seasoning available to patrons. There are various sauces offered to complement your dish: dijon, black pepper, chimichurri and beef.

Happy Hour Everyday!

On the bar side of things, there is a wide variety of specialty cocktails, wines and beers to quench your thirst. Every day from 5:00 to 8:00 pm is Happy Hour where guests can enjoy some refreshment and take advantage of savings too.
