There are some local priorities to satisfy first and foremost in you are intending to get married on Grace Bay Beach in Providenciales, so here are some guidelines to help make your special event run smoothly.

Documentation Requirements

Island regulations stipulate that you need to literally be on the islands 72 hours before you can apply for a marriage license. So add a few vacation days to the front end of your trip before you embark on any ceremony vows. It’s an ideal time to relax, enjoy the island amenities, and to gather some special memories before the Big Day.

Paperwork is essential in any marriage process, and the Turks and Caicos Islands is no exception. There are a number of documents you will need to bring with you:

  • Make sure you have photo identification, such as a passport as well as a copy of your birth certificate.
  • You’ll also need to provide a certificate of no-impediment from the registry and country where you reside. This is legal document which serves as proof that there no obligations to prevent you from marrying.
  • If you’re divorced, you’ll need to show your final divorce papers.
  • If you’re widowed, you’ll need to provide a death certificate for your spouse and a copy of your marriage certificate.
  • If you’re under the age of 21, you’ll need to provide consent from your parents in the form of an affidavit (written sworn statement) that has been notarized.

Marriage License

To apply for the Marriage License, visit the Office of the Registrar on Providenciales. It is located in the Sam Building in downtown Providenciales. The office is open from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. Once you’re there you will need to complete an affidavit of single status, two declaration forms as well as provide a copy of your Turks and Caicos Island immigration arrival and departure stamp. All documents need to be notarized. The fee for the license service is $250.00.

Marriage Officiant

To ensure your marriage is legal, the service must be performed by a Turks and Caicos Marriage Officer such as a Minister or Justice of the Peace. There are quite a number of individuals in the islands who carry the title and authority to perform your ceremony, and Tendra can help you with booking your wedding officiant.

Special License

Are you planning to arrive by cruise ship and hoping to marry the same day? Well you can. As of 2011 licensing regulations were amended to include this situation. You need to complete an application form for a Special License which is available at the Registrar’s Office or from any marriage officer.
