Yoshi’s Sushi Bar Blends Old Traditions with Modern Flare
“May I take your order?” asks the waiter.
Well, not in this sushi restaurant on Provo. You, the customer, will have to do that yourself.
And it’s as easy as a tap of the finger.
Yoshi Sushi Bar and Japanese Restaurant located in the Salt Mills Plaza on Providenciales in the Turks and Caicos Islands mixes time-honored cuisine with 21st century technology. Customers can order their Japanese menu choices by scrolling, zooming in and tapping the surface of an IPad at their dining table. Yet they are surrounded by a decor that is reminiscent of traditional Eastern themes. Touches of wood can be found throughout the restaurant, while the chairs mimic a bamboo design. Overhead, the room is illuminated by lights that give the impression of paper lanterns.
However, it’s not all about the atmosphere. The food selection is astounding with more than 100 items on the menu.
Creative is the operative word here. Not only are there a large number of sushi options, but there are also many other traditional Japanese dishes such as nigiri, sashimi, teriyakis, soups, and salads. Chef Ono also offers set meal combinations such as the Beef and Chicken Bento Box or the Sashimi Platter. These offer the customer a variety of food in one meal. And, if diners have a yen for an American taste with some Asian flair, there’s surf ‘n turf options like the Rack of Lamb and Shrimp or steak choices like the Angus Rib Eye or T-Bone with fried rice and vegetable saute.
Watch the YouTube Video below to learn how Chef Ono got his start in the restaurant business.
That love of learning propels Ono every day. The color, textures, and arrangements coming out of his kitchen have earned rave reviews.
“Not only is the food very fresh, but it’s beautifully presented and there are always nice touches to the rolls that make them particularly tasty,” said one tourist on TripAdvisor.
Sushi restaurants on Provo are as unique and memorable as our Caribbean beach holiday destination, and Yoshi’s Sushi Bar & Grill is a popular choice among locals. Sushi is definitely trending in our modern day culture, but here in the Turks and Caicos Islands, this sushi chef is preparing and serving sushi in his own style. Even his website attests to this. Ethereal music plays in the background, while photos of dishes pop up on the screen. It is a feast for the eyes and an invitation to taste and experience unparalleled sushi in the Caribbean.
