Is It Possible to Experience a Little Parisienne Culture in Provo? Mais oui!

Caicos Bakery Brings you a Delightful Assortment of Fresh French-inspired Baking

There’s nothing like the feeling of the hot Caribbean sun on your cheeks.

There’s nothing like the view of brilliant turquoise waters out your window.

And there’s nothing like the sweet taste of a French pastry on your tongue.

Hold it. Did you just read that right? How can a Caribbean paradise have anything to do with French baking?

This seeming incongruity is working beautifully at Caicos Bakery, a thriving bakery on Providenciales in the Turks and Caicos Islands. Situated in the heart of Grace Bay, this is not just a little bake shop. This is a true French boulangerie, meaning the product line goes well beyond a variety of baked breads. An assortment of pastries and cakes are also prepared daily, and items like quiches or mini pizzas are made for take-away.

Owner Frederic Cuvillon has been baking breads and pastries for 15 years for various restaurants and resorts on the island. But four years ago in response to the growing requests from local customers, he and his brother Eric finally opened a storefront bakery. And this little tucked away bakery is quickly becoming known far afield. This year it received the Certificate of Excellence Award, an honor given by Trip Advisor to top performing hospitality businesses.

The bakery products garner attention. One woman raves, “the croissants are delicious,” and another customer comments “the flavor is to die for.” Products are baked each morning to ensure freshness. Quality ingredients produce exceptional results. After many years of baking for local customers, the bakery owners know just what people want. The Cuvillon brothers bring a wealth of culinary experience between them. Frederic was a baker for over 15 years in France and Eric served as chef for Le Lido in Paris. They join others, like friend Pierrek Marziou, new owner of Le Bouchon, who not only bring the flavors of France but know exactly how to create the unique recipes of that region.

Equally remarkable is the bakery service. Eric’s wife, Tatjana Milovanovic runs the front counter. Customers repeatedly comment about her outstanding customer service.

“Tatiana, who is the person you will meet up front is a wonderful human being,” says one woman. “She is a very kind lady. She is the face of this place. We just love her.”

While Tatiana warmly greets those who visit the shop and serves each one with a big smile, Frederic and Eric work hard to ensure the highest product quality and to meet client demand. Sometimes this means very long hours. Baking begins at 4am and work demand includes a catering service as well as a specialized wedding and birthday cake service.

Consistent high quality baked goods and noteworthy service are ensuring the success of this little bakery with the great big taste.

Located an easy 5-7 minute stroll from Villa del Mar, Caicos Bakery is a must-experience European bakery while visiting the Turks and Caicos Islands. Bon appetit!
