Beachfront Casual Dining on Providenciales

Conch Dishes, Seafood Favorites and Great Beverages at Bugaloo’s

With a name like Bugaloo’s, you might automatically think of you’re going to a place specializing in wild dancing, rather than beachfront casual dining on Providenciales.

But you’d be wrong.

Bugaloo’s Conch Crawl is actually a restaurant where people are “wild” about the food.

The History of Bugaloo’s

Bugaloo’s very unusual name is courtesy of its founder, Bertie “Bugaloo” Williams. He started with only an umbrella and a table from which he would sell the island shellfish delicacy conch (pronounced conk) he’d prepared. While his start might have been humble, his food was so delicious that he quickly expanded and opened the first conch shack on the island. The success of his cuisine spawned imitators, but Bugaloo’s remains the original. The name Bugaloo resonates through the islands and is synonymous with great fresh food such as William’s fresh conch salad and crispy conch fritters. And the reviewers agree!

Location

Bugaloo’s is located right by the ocean in the Five Cays area towards Providenciales airport, about a 20 minute drive from Villa del Mar. The setting is pure Providenciales: a multi coloured building backed by turquoise tropical water and a gorgeous sandy beach. casual beachfront dining providencialesThe main restaurant building is pastel pink with blue trim. Set against the azure blue of the ocean and the sugar colored sand, you can’t miss it. The relaxed, chilled out atmosphere draws you in right away as you kick back in the warm Caribbean air and catch the cool breeze off the ocean.

Dining at Bugaloo’s

Wooden tables and chairs are set up on an outdoor wooden patio area amidst tropical palms. There’s an inside bar and an outside bar as well, so there’s no shortage of cold beverages to quench your thirst. The bar menu has over 30 offerings of rum, along with a range of tequilas, whisky, and liquors. Chilled beers range from locally brewed Turks Head, imported from the Dominican Republic, Presidente, to the tropical weather favorites, Corona and Heineken. Friendly servers bring pitchers full of rum punch or colourful cocktails or even tropical smoothies for the kids.

The original Bugaloo conch fritter and conch salad dishes are still on the menu, but there are other tasty options now like coconut cracked conch, cracked lobster or coconut shrimp. The conch on the menu couldn’t be fresher as it is harvested and prepared right on site. For diners who prefer non-seafood options, there are an assortment of burgers and wings to satisfy. Side dishes include peas and rice, plantain, mashed potatoes and crowd-pleasing mac and cheese.

Bugaloo’s Hours
